The Maker

Hey, I'm Katie Flinn

"My work is intuitive, expressive and guided by the natural flow of creativity."

What started in a tiny blue room in Pushkar, India in 2016 has become a full creative universe. I handcraft every piece from start to finish — currently from my van while travelling Australia.

I'm inspired by fantasy worlds, organic textures and undulating, melting movement. Each piece flows seamlessly, as if it was found out in the world already made.

I work predominantly with sterling silver and solid gold, and all opals are sourced direct from Australian miners. My metals are completely recycled, and everything is crafted to last.

Questions

Frequently Asked

I work primarily with sterling silver and solid gold. I steer away from plated pieces — I want to create jewellery that stands the test of time.
All opals are sourced directly from Australian miners or their suppliers. Other gemstones (sapphires, diamonds) are sourced from Jaipur, India's gem district.
I carve each design in jeweller's wax, attach it to a wax tree, create a plaster mould, burn out the wax in a kiln to leave a cavity, then pour molten metal into the cavity. The result is an exact metal replica of the wax original.
Typically about 12 weeks, which includes creative flow + wax carving, casting, refining, stone setting, and polishing. Some stages move quickly, others need space.
Custom commissions begin at $2,500 AUD, with most clients investing $4,000–$7,000 depending on stones and complexity.
I can work with your own diamonds, sapphires, or rubies. I cannot work with any other gems provided by you — this ensures quality and consistency in the final piece.
Yes! I ship worldwide, given that your country is able to receive international mail.
This will go away after 1-2 days of full wear. The darkening results from residual polishing compound from the gentle cleaning methods I use, particularly on pieces with opals.
No! I've had students with zero jewellery making skills come away from the course making sellable jewellery right away.
Metal tools run between $700–$1,109 AUD. Wax tools between $150–$390 AUD. You can also start with just the Tools Module at $60 to get the full checklist before committing.
